Metro pcs question?

I am looking to get a metropcs phone and I have friends & family who live in canada, I see they have a global texttalk feature. would i still be able to text them?

Also, I’ve heard the customer service ***** and the coverage is spotty at best….but I dont really travel outside of michigan and their coverage map shows i should be covered in the 5 cities i usually visit (sterling heights, detroit, southfield, utica, clinton township), Im a college student so most of the money I make is going towards paying back my loan for school and I just want a phone that i can use, would you recommend this?

    For price and they do have global text for free and msn messenger and will always be 45 dollor plan and voicemail call waiting caller id an picture messaging 411 for free and coverage it should get good coverage it has other places than michigan like ca and they have sim cards and good coverage there and like fulls bars.
