City officials (Warren Michigan) said the federal government has agreed to accept up to 25,000 Iraqi refugees into the United States. In order to obtain refugee status with the U.S. Department of State, applicants must list someone living here as a contact person.
Steenbergh said 66 percent of the total refugee allotment may be located in Warren and Sterling Heights because those communities have significant Iraqi populations. There are very few jobs for americans so where are the Iraqi people going to work?

MOUNT CLEMENS (AP) — A Macomb County man who authorities say killed a 7-Eleven clerk following an argument over the price of a taco was convicted by a jury Tuesday of first-degree murder.

Kenyatta Davis, 36, of Shelby Township, faces a mandatory term of life in prison without parole when sentenced Sept. 25.

Authorities say Davis on Aug. 24, 2006, argued with Wajed Ali Baig, 47, a clerk at the convenience store in Sterling Heights, over the price of $1.16 taco. Davis got a gun from his vehicle, authorities said, and shot the father of three. Davis was arrested eight days later at a home in Racine, Wis.
